Work-a-palooza

This weekend P came over to the Crap Shack after spending his week in Houston, Texas. Apparently Houston is a dreadful place, and somewhere I should avoid.

This weekend we got one of two demolition projects needing to be done on the crap shack, finished. TQE has been here and seen it, the work we did was on the enclosed porch where we got rid of piled the remnants of the last brick wall in the driveway, and then moved the washing machine out onto the porch. The latter required flipping the plumbing around and adding a new circuit to run the washer. This is a huge deal. My washing machine is now out on the porch, which means that for the first time since moving here, my washer and dryer are next to each other - something people expect to see when they look at a house that is for sale.

If you have been following the saga that is the Crap Shack remodel, you will know that the last huge project we did was replace the old electric panel. That was step one to allow us to do other things, including adding the new outlet for the washing machine.

There is a method to my cynical madness.

After P left tonight, I did my first load of laundry with the washer in its new location. It was very pleasant to not have to listen to it as I sat in the house doing other things.

It’s amazing how much peace and quiet 20-hours of hard work will get you.

If the kitchen demolition goes as quickly, I may get this house ready to sell about on the schedule he and I were thinking. Let’s hope so, and that I can get at least a break-even price for it. *Fingers crossed*

P.S. P must really love me. He has put so much work into this house I’ll never be able to thank him enough. Since coming into my life, he has given me a lot of focus, and for that I am very thankful.
