Today I sent out a request for an appointment at the consulate of European Union Country X so that I can present my application for dual-citizenship. I have all my documentation together except one document that should be arriving by the end of October. Since I won’t have everything before, I am requesting an appointment after November 5.
Let’s see if they respond. I sent the request via e-mail as many others going through the process at this consulate said to and I hope I get the appointment soon! If I do, then it will be about another 6 months after the appointment before I can get my passport and then the process will be finished. So the earliest I may expect to have my passport is April 2008. When I get the passport all of my dear readers will find out which lucky nation is EU Country X.
If TQE is still in Germany then, I’ll have to take a celebratory trip to see him and go through passport control with my EU passport!
I know you’ve wanted this for a long time. I think I know what country it is but I won’t tell, that is your present to open. If the last document doesn’t arrive in time maybe they will be lenient and just give you the dual citizenship. You may have to grease a few palms, if you know what I mean.
In the words of Dr. McCoy, bureaucracy is the only constant in this universe.
The last document is a death certificate for my great-grandfather. i have a copy, but his birthdate is incorrect on it. I’m getting it amended right now and that takes 7 months. *ugh*
Bureuacracy is a constant, but I’m not holding hope the EU X bureaucrats would see that 129 years = certianly dead. *shrugs*
I don’t know why but when I was growing up many people said Hitler was alive and living in Argentina. Pointing out that he would be well over a hundered didn’t seem to quell the rumors.
CQ, TQE is sending you pictures of South Africa. It’s about freakin’ time huh?
Considering I have yet to send my SA photos to him, I think the comment may be more appropriately applied to me.
